Job Description

Job purpose
The purpose of the role of the MEP Draftsman is to develop and coordinate MEP drawings, models, and technical documentation for Traditional and Design & Build projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integration with architectural, interior design, technical design, and site requirements. Working directly under the guidance of the Lead MEP Engineer, the role supports efficient project delivery by producing coordinated MEP information for tender, authority submission, IFC, shop drawings, and as-built documentation while helping to identify and resolve clashes and coordination issues throughout the project life-cycle.

Operational Responsibilities
1. Develop detailed MEP drawings using CAD/Revit software for all project stages, including Concept, Detailed Design (DD), IFC, Shop Drawings, Authority Submissions, and As-Built documentation.
2. Prepare authority submission drawings and support the approval process with Dubai Municipality (DM), Dubai Civil Defense (DCD), DEWA, Dubai Development Authority (DDA), JAFZA, Trakhees, DIFC, ADCD, ADDC, and other relevant authorities, landlords, and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and project requirements.
3. Produce accurate and detailed MEP drawings in accordance with project specifications, authority requirements, and company standards.
4. Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all project drawings, revisions, and technical documentation.
5. Review and quality check drawings prior to issue and submission to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
6. Work closely with the Lead MEP Engineer and MEP team to interpret project requirements and develop coordinated technical drawings.
7. Coordinate with architectural, interior design, structural, and specialist contractor teams to ensure proper integration of MEP services within the overall design.
8. Provide technical support during project delivery by assisting in the resolution of drawing-related issues, RFIs, site queries, and coordination matters.
9. Prepare detailed MEP sections, elevations, and installation details based on project-specific requirements, site conditions, consultant standards, and approved materials.
10. Prepare coordinated Reflected Ceiling Plans (RCPs) and low-level coordination drawings, integrating MEP services with specified architectural and interior finishes.
11. Prepare coordinated builders' work drawings, including openings, sleeves, penetrations, plinths, and service requirements, ensuring alignment with architectural, structural, and site installation requirements.
12. Assist in clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination by reviewing MEP layouts against architectural, interior design, structural, and specialist contractor information, identifying and resolving coordination issues prior to drawing issuance.

Person Specifications

Essential (must have to perform the role)
1. Bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field.
2. 5 years’ working experience in MEP drafting and design.
3. Strong working knowledge of MEP drafting standards and coordinated drawing production across schematic, construction package, and submission stages.
4. Strong working knowledge of UAE authority submission requirements and drawing expectations, including Dubai Municipality, Dubai Civil Defense, DEWA, DDA, and other relevant authorities.
5. Strong working knowledge of MEP coordination principles, including the interface of MEP services with architectural and structural elements, reflected ceiling plans, and low-level coordination requirements.
6. Demonstrated working knowledge of CAD software, including AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design tools.
7. Demonstrated working knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
8. Demonstrated capability in reviewing and interpreting drawing mark-ups, and verifying drawings for technical accuracy, code alignment, and compliance with internal standards before issue or submission.
